Glowing in Silence: A reflection on validation, growth, and alignment

I came across a very beautiful song on spotify that has been helping my mental health lately. It’s called “Glow in Silence” by The Rootwalker.

It is a reminder that validation is not necessary when you know you are doing your best and choosing what is right for you. In a world that often rewards visibility, recognition, and external approval, this message feels both gentle and powerful.

What stood out to me most is the idea that sometimes growth does not need to be loud. Healing, becoming, and doing the work can happen quietly without needing recognition or applause from others. There is something deeply grounding about that.

The song carries a strong theme of quiet strength, the kind that does not rely on being seen to be real. It speaks to the experience of continuing forward even when no one is acknowledging it, and trusting that progress is still happening beneath the surface.

It also reflects self-authenticity which enables you to stay aligned with your values and decisions even when they are not understood or validated externally. Instead of constantly seeking reassurance, there is a shift toward internal certainty, learning to ask, “Does this feel right for me?” rather than “Will others approve of this?”

Another important layer is emotional independence, not in a disconnected or isolated sense, but in a steady and regulated way. It is the understanding that your worth does not increase with praise or decrease with silence. You remain whole, regardless of who notices.

It reminds us that allowing your work, your consistency, and your integrity to speak for you is the name of the game. It’s no longer about being seen by everyone, but about being aligned with yourself. There is a quiet freedom in no longer performing for validation, and instead focusing on authenticity and intention.

As a mental health advocate and counsellor, this is something I also want to gently remind others:
You are allowed to grow in silence.
You are allowed to not explain everything.
You are allowed to move in ways that make sense to you, even if they are not understood by others.

There is peace in accepting that not everything needs to be externalised to be valid. Sometimes the most meaningful progress is the one that happens quietly within us.

And maybe that is what it truly means to glow in silence, to continue becoming, without needing permission to do so.
